π 2026 Clacton By-Election
A by-election for the United Kingdom parliamentary constituency of Clacton is being held on 13 August 2026, following the resignation of Nigel Farage, its member of Parliament. Farage, who is the leader of Reform UK, had represented Clacton since the 2024 general election. He announced on 7 July 2026 that he would vacate his seat to trigger a by-election and re-contest the constituency; his resignation was accepted the next day. The announcement came amid parliamentary scrutiny of Farage's personal finances, and allegations concerning undeclared gifts and support.
The Labour Party, the Conservative Party, the Liberal Democrats, the Green Party and Restore Britain are not contesting the by-election, leaving Count Binface, a novelty candidate, as the main challenger to Farage. Thirty-two other candidates were nominated, with the total of 34 breaking the record β previously set in 2008 β for the most candidates standing in any UK parliamentary election, including three from the Official Monster Raving Loony Party.
